3. Paint inspection

3.1 Quality of surface treatment

GB8923-88 This standard specifies the visual rating grade of the corrosion degree and rust removal quality of the steel surface before coating. It is suitable for hot-rolled steel surfaces treated by spraying or ejection, manual and power tools, and flame rust removal. The evaluation of the surface rust removal grade of cold-rolled steel can also be used by reference.

Rusting grade

The four rust grades of the steel surface are shown as A, B, C and D. The descriptions of these rust grades are as follows: A completely covered the steel surface; B has rusted and partially peeled the steel surface; C peel has been peeled by rust or can be scraped with a small eroded steel surface; D peel has been completely stripped by rust and has generally eroded the steel surface.

Derusting grade

The surface rust removal grade of the steel is indicated by the letter "Sa", "St" or "FI" representing the rust removal method used. If the letter is followed by Arabic numerals, it indicates the degree of removal of attachments such as oxide skin, rust and paint coatings.

3.2 Visual inspection of the paint film

Check the surface condition of the paint film with the naked eye, the paint film should be free of pinhole, bubbles, cracks, falling off, flow hanging, leakage and other disadvantages.

(3) The thickness of the dry film and the wet film can be determined by using a meter.

(5) The continuity of the paint film on the metal surface can be checked by the low-pressure leakage coating point detector. Inadequate coated areas shall be marked with chalk. If five or more defects are found within 10m2, the entire area may be considered defective.

(6) The surface temperature can be measured by using a surface thermometer. Moisture on non-metallic surfaces can be measured using a water meter.

The interlayer adhesion shall be that two or more hardened coatings shall not be layered when using the sharp knife test. 3.3 Inspection of paint film thickness

During the construction, the coating should be made according to the dosage, and the paint film thickness meter is often used to determine the thickness of the dry film (DFT). The thickness of the paint film should be measured after each coating, and the total thickness of the paint film should be measured after the coating.

Under normal circumstances, the thickness distribution of paint film should be controlled at more than 90%, that is, the thickness value of the dry film measured by more than 90% of the measuring points must reach or exceed the specified thickness value of the dry film, and the thickness value of the dry film measured by less than 10% of the measuring points should not be less than 90% of the specified thickness value of the dry film, otherwise it should be applied or coated.

If 5 or more defects are found in an area of 10m2, the demander may consider the paint in the whole area defective.

90% of the test point paint film thickness must meet the specified standard value. If the points do not reach the specified standard value, the thickness of the paint film shall not be less than 90% of the specified standard value, otherwise, reapply the paint.
